Fairy Guardian - Homemade Soup Ch12

Meeting the King of all Fairy Folk. Yeah. No Biggie. Stomach was doing back flips. Just to distract myself, 'Is the Royal Palace one big Treehouse?" Hal looks down at me with a scrunch up face and then it smooths over, "I forget your human.  The Palace is divided into four sections. Three private residential areas and then the official Royal castle."  Three residences. "What about your siblings?"

Moving faster to the door leading to King. Are we going to the castle or his residence? Why is he taking me there? Stomach feels like I ate a full box of girl scout cookies. Do not throw up. Instead of Hal answering the sweet green guy helps me out. "Think about the Royals living on a island and that island has four sections. Each bubble represents the magic of that individual Fairy." Before he could continue Hal puts his palm out onto the knob and a tattoo light up purple his right wrist. Looking at him and then his wrist, "What is up with the tattoo that can light up?

Again, instead of answering he firmly presses my back to move forward. We went from Treehouse to a New York City Skyscraper. Looking up. Wow. I went to NYC a couple of times and this is impressive. "Are we in New York?" There were fairies in the lobby moving in a hurry to get to wherever they were going. Much like the big city, except one big difference none of them looked human. One was definitively a beetle picking up trash on the floor, purple little flies moving fast but catching a glimpse of a Tinkerbell, another huge stone man was blocking the entrance, and others that were hard to describe. My mouth was wide open. So many questions went through my mind.  Would he answer anything? Maybe I can get Greeny cornered for the T.

Once we were noticed, everything stopped, everyone stopped. Weird. Blush coming up my neck. Felt as if in a dream and your naked. Then everyone fell to their knees. A hush and whispers. He is here. Now I was fine with being pulled quickly to the elevator doors. As soon as the doors were shut, "If you will not answer most of my questions? Why does the Fairy realm look so much alike to my world, except the obvious bugs now are people?"

Hal did not even look at me again but pressed a box to open next to the 200 floors buttons. 200 hundred floors. What does anyone need that many floors? What happens here? Must be the King's private residence because it's not a castle. The box open and he puts his wrist to a scanner, and we are on our way up. This was like going through a waterslide except going up. Pressed my hands to my tummy. Which then growled. Both males looked over to me. And the nice one said, "Hal, she needs to eat?"

The ping went off and now we are in the penthouse suite with a butler to great us. "Welcome your Majesty. The King awaits you promptly." Nose in the air, and for someone being without a nose, he did the job of a snobby English butler to a tee. Never acknowledge either Draco or me. All of us start following and uppity must have felt to many footsteps. Without turning his globe of a head, "Privately/"

"Why don't you take Car to get something to eat and then come back to the lobby. I will take the task of updating the King on Anna's guardian," now full authority mode. Mere peasants. Put in our place. Why am I even attracted to him? Just as bad as the butler. Looking at my new green friend, hooking my arm through his, "I am yours." Smiling and Ok little flirting. Hal was being rude.  The most daring and come-hither look took over Draco's face, "Then I will make sure to take all of you." Giggle reached my face and body. He feels familiar to me.

Both of us turned and where surprised Hal was still there. Prince gave a that promised retribution, but, having no time to think further or comment because butler is almost to the end of the hallway, he turns in a military formation. Now seeing his back and the back muscles rippling in his white T-shirt just begs a girl to touch it, and those white-washed jeans holding the long legs right now eating up the red carpet. Taking my gaze off him and catching Draco staring at me. He knows. Damn.

"I have no idea why anyone could be slightly attracted to someone that wants you dead. But to be fair all my choices for men so far were bottom barrel. At least looks wise, I am moving up." Shaking his green long hair, pulls be toward a tall door with gold stripes on it. This place is completely pompous. Too much, "Here I am cool."

Going through the striped door and finding a large kitchen. This was not modern, it was ancient, almost what you would fine in a Renaissance festival. My confusion showed because, Draco explained "The King had humble beginnings when he arrived on the earthly plain and likes his food to be made from primitive means. He believes the more modern cooking techniques takes the true flavor of food away." The most beautiful woman walked in the kitchen with an apron on. Long blond hair that mimicked the sun. Blue eyes that sparkled like the ocean in the morning. Her clothes matched the environment, very festival dress up.

"Draco, I had no idea you were coming," smiling the whole time at both of us. Can you feel super star struck and the same time envious? Anna faded next to this woman and that said ALOT. Draco recovered first. Ok. Not just me. "Carson here. Needs some substance," quickly stating.

Did he stammer? Where was the confidence and wit.  Well at least given his obvious attraction to her, we are both out of our leagues. To fair to him. Who would not want her in any gender or kind? Or maybe they are dating. "Are you. I mean. The two of you," pointing to Draco and her, now stammering and finding English hard myself.  Note. Green can blush a shade of white. Draco looks like I committed a crime of the worst order. Hurt my best pal already. Damn.

Taking my hand and gently petting him like my cat, 'Sorry my mouth gets away from me when I am hungry." Then she laughs. Come ON. Can someone laugh that sounds like soft breeze?  I sound like a schoolgirl or snort if I am really going. Crossing the real woods floors to me and hugs me, "Ahhh. I miss humans. They are so funny. Fairies are way too serious for my taste. Come eat."

She distracted me because now I smell food. The smell of homemade bread wafted with a hint of an herb, maybe basil. "I just made some Haku bread with a simple vegetable soup/" Sitting us down at a comfortable kitchen nook table. Giving us each a bowl and warm bread. At this point, I did not care about her, the fairy realm, guardian ship, being almost killed, or jerk male Feys. Food. Delicious. Mouth-watering food. They talked over me while I ate. Noticed Draco was not eating, so helped myself to his portion.

"Sorry for being rude. This woman next to me is named Carson," Giving her a little wave of my hand then using it to butter my bread. "And this delightful royal cook is Helena. She is Hallious's mother." Soup comes out of my mouth. Mother? Chowing down food like it is my last meal, kind of not the best look in front of Royality. "Mother? She is the Qween? Looking at him like, you did not tell me betrayal look. Not cool, new buddy.

Her exquisite laugh again, she says "Oh Thank the stars No. The five royal children had surrogates. The Queen mother could not carry children to term. I was chosen to give birth to Hal." Her face lite up. Could someone even have a glow. Touching her with my hand. Yep real. "Sorry. You feel like the beauty and your son should be cast as the beast." Feeling heat creep up my neck to my face. Did I say that out loud? Insulting her child. Not what any mother would want to hear.

"My son has qualities that are beastly but ff you see me when someone tries to cook in my kitchen, Pots are flying," light laughter and some chagrin. How could this creature give birth to the devil's spawn. "Why is Hal? I mean Hallious so," getting my best miliary mean face on and "and your so. So. You. Radiant?"  Darkness came over her expression quickly. Gone was the warmth. Great. Now I hurt another wonderful fairy. Two for Two. Not gaining friends Carson.

"Don't judge Hallious to harshly. His father has been...difficult with him." Walking away to wash away invisible crumbs on the counter. "Hallious was a brave beautiful boy, always trying to help and save all the little creatures." Pausing briefly to prepare herself with hands on her heart.

"We were out on a picnic and this rare occasion his father joins us. Hal was five years old.  Hallious was playing and saw a pixie was stuck in mud. With his magic he got the little pixie out. The biggest smile came over him," taking another pause and some intentional breaths continues.  "His father smiled at him and walks over to him putting his palm up to take his precious gift. Then without warning his father burnt the pixie with his purple mist. No sound came from the pixie." Closing her eyes and not wanting to remember it but I am sure it felt like it happened yesterday. Why do some people have children?

"Anyway, after I saw what the King did to him. Hallious and I, created away for the treehouse residence for him.  He had a place to be himself, until. Until" seeing her body shiver.  " Until he was stripped of his magic." Feeling like I am being told too much for a newcomer but eating up every single bread crumb. "Lost his magic?" How is the possible here?

Draco getting up from the table and wrapping Helena in his arms. Giving him a pat on the chest, and gently backing him away, "After that happened, he changed. So please do not judge my son to harshly. Reasons you cannot see or imagined shaped him into who he is. Who he has to be." Looking at green man, his face held utter devotion to the top of her head until she looked up, and it was erased with more sympathetic general look. Noted.

"He did save his brother. Hallious is a hero in my eyes," Draco said with pride and something else in his voice. Love? Wait. "Brother?"

Why do people have to interrupt at the good parts? "His majesty would like to see you Draco." Turning on his heel. No backward glance. 'Don't come or pay' vibes. "Could you watch her Helena until I come fetch her?" "Sure." Giving a thank you look and hurrying away to catch up to tight butt.

Now alone. Would she answer? Moving my spoon around the empty bowl. "Want some more food?" She Giggled. Mood was lightened.  Stomach responded before I did. Now both of us are laughing. More food now in front of me, she asks "What about your family?" Almost lost my soup with the thought of talking about my childhood. But fair is fair.

Trying to be matter of fact with her, "Similar to Hal, in the fact, a parent with messed up brain function hurt me too."  Talking about my mother but thanking of Regina again,

"Hey Cara bear. I will always love you. Spots and all." Those words she said to me over and over again until I believed her.

Coming back and taking a piece out of the soft bread, continuing "Also similar to Hal, I had someone in my life to love me unconditional. Her name was Regina. She came at a point in my life where I needed just one person to care." Thinking back to her,

"You have to stay here Cara bear; these people will help you." saying it with red swollen eyes. "You got to close this time to hurting yourself or someone else. You hit that curb with your car and bent the guard rail. The doctors are shocked you survived at all."  Turning to her with betrayal firing from my eyes, "I hate you. You just want me to be perfect. Just like my stupid mother."

Straightening her spine and looking at me with a look I have never seen until now, "Your mother would not give two shits to be here right now for you. But you know what. I am." pointing to her chest. "You are in this mental ward because you are out of control." Turning on her heels and heading out of the room. Touching my gown.  Feeling lost and abandoned. "I hate you," closing my eyes. I hear, "I would rather you hate me then dead." The door closed with a clock.

Going back to the present, feeling the tears coming but this time not noticing until I feel wetness on my face. "Are you Ok?" Helena puts her hand over mind. Giving my head a nod, "Just remembering how she saved my life.  I miss her every day since she passed away last summer." Now pulling both her hands over mine, a very motherly loving voice, "She sounds like a pretty great human. Sorry for your loss Carson."

Just when I was going to get more out of her, the door opens again and this time expecting to see frowning fairy its Hal.

"Ready to meet the King?"
