Fairy Guardian - Comprise Ch16

"Stay Here!" Hal was gone in a flash of blue light. Well, that went well. How am I supposed to process all of this new information? Your real mom is actual a full fledge Goddess and btw a Fairy Queen. Oh, and by the way, she is someone you have known for years that was lying to you the whole time. And faked her own death. Going to the living room, that was sunk into the floor.  Custom made couch that goes around in a circle, with dark green plush fabric. A fireplace in the middle. Which thinking this is a tree? But we are in magicville...so yeah.

Plop down put my head in my hands. Its too much. I have to save a whole realm that is made of magical creatures with some kind of power that comes out like a rainbow. Pulling my body up and looking at my hands, how? Looking around to make sure I am not seen. Flick my hands but nothing. Maybe I need to stand up. Flick. Flick. Nothing. Maybe someone was pulling a prank on me and made it seem like it was me. Ok. Stand taller. Shoulders back. Belly In. Flick. Flick.

"What are you doing? Screamed and turned around to look at my nemesis. "You should wear a damn bell? Yes, I was completely embarrassed, but I am done being whippy chick. Taking my hair and pulling it back. Sitting down again on the couch. Calmly addressing Hal in a tone of nonchalance. "Why Hal did you bring me here? Take me back to Anna? Perfect reasonable and pleasant.  Completely adult behavior.

"You are stuck with me for the duration of your time here babe?" using that commander voice that bristles me but secretly love it. When it's not at me. Jumping out of the couch, "You cannot lock me in here. I did nothing wrong. It's my life that is now not even mind anymore?" Tears were forming but not anymore. Pushing them way back.

Coming down the steps toward me and making me step back. Why does he have to be taller than the green giant? I am not a small woman at almost 5' 10."  In a soft voice when he is inches from my face, "Let's see 'Care Bear?' Winced at the child like name Regina gave me, but I was going through major trauma from manic birth mother and needed some comfort. It stuck. Sue me I love it.

He goes on and brings out the damn fingers again, "First, you almost drown coming here, a cookie monster almost took you out, a shadow came my dear sister's home to suck you dry, and now one of my father's servants tried to take you out with a shade blade?" Looking up at his silver eyes. Not showing concern but more I am now a nuisance look. "Shade blade?" trying to get off the finger list.

Looks to the ceiling, apparently trying this patience. "You have too many questions? I wish I could download everything there is to know and I am not your assistant bringing you up to speed." Turning on his heel and sitting on the opposite side of the living room. I take my seat, arranging my hair, and rearranging my dress.

"From now on, you get three questions for the entire time I am with you. Once quota is met. We are done," reasonably said but did not like it one bit. I did not choose to come here and know absolutely zero. "So, to answer your first question," yes, finger was raised. Okay thought came but went quickly.

"The Shadow King developed weapons using dark magic. Dark magic is the absence of any light, source energy. It is living death. If any dark magic weapon were to pierce a fairy, it could hinger it, maim it, or kill it. Depends on the level of magic within any fairy."

Pausing briefly, turning his right palm up, and blue fire comes out. "If I produce light magic, its source. Light magic can hurt maybe kill but only in self-defense. If I use my light magic to inflict pain or kill on purpose, my magic will twist to the dark." Mesmerized by the flame. It was beautiful. Looking at my own hand. Could I? Did I?

Then thought came to me, the King killing that innocent Pixie, "What about your dad killing that Pixie when you were a kid." His look was surprise and the resignation, "My mother of course told you. Yes, if the King kept hurting those weaker, even his light magic would be twisted to the dark. But him being the King of this magical realm, it would take a lot of abuse to lose his light."

"Thank you. I know that me being here is," waving my hands at myself. "A lot. But think about me. I am thrown into a world that wants to kill me, and I have to be the one to save it. And by the way. Get married with true love on the side." Feeling restless, got up and started to pace. "I want to protect myself. Teach me magic. Show me if I have this light magic within me. Some kind of thingy came out of my hand."

Hal was calculating in his brain, then nodded and came to stand next to me. "If I help you than you have to promise to stay here until I know it's safe to leave? This is the only place that nothing has tried to kill you. And only very few have access to my personal residence. I can control who has access to you." Heat was rising on my cheeks for a number of reasons. Heart was fluttering but also a slice of panic. Alone with him. He wants to kill me one second and take me to bed the next.

"What about Regina, The Queen? Or my clothes at Anna's place? Or Lily's products she made for me?" Taking some steps away from him and moving towards the deck. Needed fresh air. Opening the door and cool breeze hits me. "I am supposed to get married Hal. I mean that is what Regina tells me. I mean The Queen. Will leaving here not ruin those chances of meeting someone? Thank God for the breeze and dark night sky. This girl was a furnace.

Taking the position, we started with when I woke up from my nightmare. How much has happened between one revelation to the next. Head is spinning.  "Not sure I want to marry. I suck at love. My relationships consisted of weeks not even months. Seeing my mother what loved did to her. No Thank you," feeling like a deflated balloon just waving in the wind waiting to fall.

Taking one arm and pulling me in front of him, resting his head on top of my head. Ahhh. His fragrance. I wish I could just name it. Pure male. Yummy. Maybe it's one of the pheromones that cannot be identified. Pulling me back to hear him. Deciding to get a little daring and move closer to him.

"Car. I will not lie. This whole situation is some kind of cruel twist of fate. I will be honest, hearing everything that was said, it got me angry that the Queen. The Queen kept this from me. Me." Feel the stiffness come over him. "How am I going to keep this realm safe without all the facts?" Hard muscled chest breathed in and out then relaxed.

"Then there is you. No longer have to kill you," with both chuckled. Looking up at him, "Miracles happen every day." Taking my chin, "But to save you, save my family, and save the entire realm you must be protected. But no one can see you except the ones I allow. If someone wants you died, then having other royals around you is not safe for me."

Crinkling my face, "You're going to be King Hal. You're a Royal too. You should be more protected than anyone else." Leaning down for a kiss and the spark happened again. His warm lips touched mine. Pulling back, "I am the most powerful fairy in this realm. No one could protect you better than me. Also, everyone else's house has been breached."

"Promise me you will stay here and all your stuff can be moved here from Anna's place. We will develop your magic skills. If what happened in the boardroom was a freak accident, we will find another weapon to help protect yourself. But Car. You have to promise to stay here until I deem its safe to leave. If anyone tries to get you to leave, you will notify me."

"Fine." Pushing away from him slightly and needing some space. But he would not budge is bulky form. Moving a statue made of granite. Now both his arms are on either side of me. "How pray tell am I suppose to call you. Bat signal?" Confusion on his face. "The show Batman. Never mind. How can I contact you?"

Taking my left wrist and blowing fire into it. Flame was warm and gentle. Incredibly moving experience. If ya know what I mean. Wow. Okay being filled with powerful light magic is a turn on. A symbol appeared that looked like the Tree of Life. "All you have to do is touch it like this," his thumb touches in softly, "I will know you need me and come. If I cannot, a trusted friend will come."

"Thank Hal," spellbound and feeling lightheaded. "Is sharing magic like this. I mean. Is it always so," warmth trailing chest to neck. "Nothing with you is every normal Car." Leaning in for another kiss when crash is heard in the house. This time we do not jump apart but take deep breaths with each other. Whatever happened was special and both of us did not want to ruin the moment.

"I made Lasagna. You two should real come in and eat," hearing Helena voice coming loud and clear. No mistaking the motherly, stop this minute doing whatever you think you're doing. Schooling our features. It was nice to see him without the mask on. Absorbing him just being him. "I will stay Hal. But you have to promise to train me in magic and self-defense. I cannot stay locked up here forever. Also where is my room?"

Straitening and making his way in the house without answering my question. Fine. Wait, would that count as number two question? Deciding to let it go, because I am stuck here either way and I will find out soon enough. The smell of fresh bread and lasagna hit my stomach. Growling could be heard. Hal chuckles and looks back. Blush stains my cheeks. Cannot help it.

Walking into his s kitchen with stainless-steel appliances with white cabinets and earth tone color palette. It was cozy and comfortable. Then turning to the left was the most exquisite hand-carved table. Putting my hands on it. It looks like one piece of wood. Rich wood grains. "This is beautiful."

"I made it." Hal said it and turned to take a plate of his mother's food. "With Magic?" Keeping my hands moving on the table. "No, when I lost my magic. It. It gave me something to do with my hands." Seeing him act shyly. Made me feel a little Moochie. "Well, you should go into wood carving business. This is magic."

Helena was looking at us like she swallowed something awful, "Let's it." Before we started, Ember, Lily and Draco walks in. "Food. I am starving." Everyone got down to eating. Food was simply the best I have ever ate. Cheese was gooey, vegetable felt freshly picked, bread melted in your mouth, and the sauce would have made an Italian grandmother cry. Looking at Ember, Lily, Helena, Draco, and Hal. This must be his trusted circle.

"Draco do you have updates. Short version." Back was kind of a mask with Hal but more for business mode. Happy the real him did not disappear on me. Helena gave me a little smile but sadness crept in her face. What is that all about? Did I get off the good list? Does she hate me? Before I could just ask her. Draco starts in.

"Queen and King are settled in a safe house. Talia and Vian are being security. No one is allowed to come or go except them. Mike has done a great job getting to the breach. Apparently, another servant got sick, and the replacement came in last second. Security guard did not double check clearance. Everyone is let go until further notice. Father is giving a month's pay for time off. So know hurt feelings." Digging into the lasgane like it was his last meal.

"Ember, any word on the body, Carson's tests, or the killer we caught today? Again, boss mode. "Nothing to report on burnt body, except no light magic within them. It looks to be from the beast fraction but hard to tell. The assassin was filled with almost seventy-five percent dark magic. The pill he used was a mushroom found in the archaic fields.  Which if used by his kind, is certain death," Ember stated in a matter-of-fact tone.

Looking at me with more sympathy, "Carson tests were inclusive. She appears fully human but something within her does not match any of our other human subjects." Other human subjects. What? Do they store humans here? Hal looks over to me like I am a puzzle that will be solved. Come hell or high water.

Clearing my throat, "So, I do not have any magic in me. Other humans? I thought they could not live here. How am I living here or alive right now?" Ember pipes in excited, "It's the human guardians. A fairy tale was told to us as children, if we find a human than they will help save us. Except no humans stay alive. Except you. That is why Anna was excited that she found one."

"The humans you found were all dead. Except me?"

"Yes. You're a wonderful test subject," hearing what she said out loud gave her a pause, but her smile returned. Yeah, for me. More tests. A Bing sounded on a tablet that was on the table. Lily picks it up. Reads it and frowns. Scared to share the news.

"Anna disappeared!"
